This site is dedicated to helping the motorist fight unfair and sometimes illegally issued penalty charge notices and parking tickets

You usually have NOTHING TO LOSE  by sending in an initial appeal if you think you have been unfairly ticketed as every council that we have contacted will give you another 14 days to pay at the reduced rate even if they reject your appeal.

We are the most comprehensive site on traffic enforcement with hundreds of pages of information set out in a very easy to navigate format specific to the offence alleged to have been commited. We have photos, diagrams and even summerised adjudicators decisons to help a motorist decide on whether to appeal a penalty charge notice. The site is constantly updated with all the latest cases and we receive between 9,000 - 16,000 visitors a month.  We cover the whole of England and Wales.

Confusing traffic signs

Some signs are so confusing that even the council’s don’t understand them. The above sign is illegal. The section with the orange background is wrong and should read the same hours as the loading section below. Otherwise the sign is telling you to pay and display at a time when it is also telling you that you cannot wait! See our signs section for further details.

A proud council employee. Many of these vehicles have been found to be issuing tickets illegally.

For all the latest news see our news section but here is a taster...

A motorist in London recently won an appeal against Westminster City Council, the country's biggest enforcer of parking restrictions. He had parked in a disabled bay but said he didn't actually receive a parking ticket. The adjudicator did not believe him and said his account of what happend wasn't credible. Westminster council said that they affixed the penalty charge notice to his window. So why did the motorist win?

His vehicle was a motorbike with no windows! Westminster council was even less credible!

Westminster Council abandon the controversial weekend and evening parking charges in the West End. they were due to be enforced from January 9th but massive opposition and a high court case have stopped them in their track. They are now looking to sell the new signs for scap! We took a very active roll in bringing this about. including many meetings with the councillor responsible.

Received a Penalty Charge Notice? We Can Help

Simply search for your contravention code in the box above for instant help on why you have received a penalty charge notice and how to have it cancelled.

The contravention code is usually next to the decription of the contravention (offence).i.e.contravention code 01 "parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours" or contravention code 50 "failing to comply with a sign indicating a prohibited turn".

If your penalty charge notice does not have a code then click on the button "select a description from the list" at the top of the page and select the contravention (offence) that matches that on your penalty charge notice.

Much of the information on our site is FREE but for around the cost of an hour's parking in central London you will have full access to the entire site. The information is clearly set out and very easy to navigate. We will show you the many ways that you could have your penalty charge notice cancelled. The information is set out for each offence (contravention) so just choose the contravention that you have received a penalty charge notice for and follow the simple 3 stage process. If there is a way to have your parking ticket or penalty charge notice cancelled it is probably on our site. We constantly update the site with the latest adjudicator's decisions and a tremendous amount of other information that we are constantly fed. Members can also use our email helpline if they have a specific question. Also you will be helping us in our relentless campaign to have this totally unfair system changed.(see about us and what we do in the left hand menu for more information) Support us and join today!

We have campaigned on behalf of motorists for over 12 years to have the current unfair and, in our opinion revenue orientated enforcement of parking and moving traffic offences by local councils and transport for London changed. Click the link in the left hand menu for more about us and what we do.

We have evidence of unfair and sometimes illegal enforcement by local authorities. We have had some successes along the way. We are often on BBC news and in the local and national press highlighting areas where enforcement is being carried out unfairly and sometimes illegally. The government know what is going on and “sympathise” but “we have no powers to intervene” says former transport minister Rosie Winterton. This was reiterated by her successor Geoff Hoon. Both the previous government and this Government are completely uninterested in halting the persecution of the motorist and as a result local councils can act with total impunity. Many councils ignore the statutory guidance issued by the government as well as the strict signage and lineage requirements. We are in touch with the new transport minister Mr Norman Baker who initially asked for some suggestions from us " to make enforcement fairer and hold local authorities to account " however when we made some simple suggestions we finally received a reply many months later saying that he will not help and that we should contact the chief executive of the local council! Recently he has written and confirmed that the government will not intervene even if a local authority breaks the law.!!! To us it seems that after cutting back on local council grants this new government, which vowed to end the war on the motorist, is now reluctant to remove valuable income from councils. We will continue to lobby on behalf of motorists for a fairer regime but we are bitterly disappointed at the response so far.

Many motorists believe that we are in a police state with hidden cameras or traffic wardens hiding around corners just waiting to catch a minor transgression of the rules by a motorist in the name of revenue. We welcome donations to help fund our continued campaign on behalf of the motorist.
