Parking officers told to issue illegal tickets!
It was reported today that traffic wardens is Exeter were told by the city council to ignore traffic regulations and ambiguous road signs and issue potentially illegal tickets. One of the wardens , who resigned, told a tribunal that a supervisor wrote to all the wardens and told them to issue the tickets and see if motorists appealed and let the back office staff deal with them!
We have written to Norman Baker the under secretary at the department of transport who has responsibility for dealing with councils on issues like this. We have made suggestions to stop this illegal ticketing of vehicles often in the name of profit but we have yet to hear back. What a horrid country we live in when local authorities can act in this way against citizens with absolutely no comeback whatsoever. It is a disgrace.
